Elders in Anambra State operating under the aegis of Anambra North Elders Forum (ANEF) have rejected Senator Stella Oduah’s bid to return to the Nigerian Senate for the third time, citing poor performance in the last seven years and outright failure to represent the interest of Anambra North Senatorial district.

The decision of the elders was the outcome of a meeting in Otuocha, Anambra East, Local Government Area.
The forum insisted that Senator Oduah would have spent eight years by the end of her second tenure in May, hence she has taken her fair share, unfortunately, she failed woefully in her legislative performance and should not be voted to represent Anambra North Senatorial district anymore.

Change of Name

Speaking with journalists after the meeting on Friday, the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Nathaniel Onuora, said their position is even supported by the fact that Senator Oduah, has not effectively represented the zone in the last seven years, a development that led to the loss of Senatorial voice in the red Chamber of the National Assembly.

“Odua’s voice was not clearly and loudly heard in the red chamber defending her people as others were doing or proposing interest bills that would benefit their constituent.”

“After our meeting today here in Otuocha, headquarters of Anambra East Local Government Area, we members of Anambra North Elders Forum, ANEF, we resolved to reject Senator third term bid to represent Anambra North Senatorial zone in the Senate.

“Her voice was not clearly and loudly heard in the red chamber defending her people as others were doing or proposing interest bills that would benefit their constituent.”

The Forum Chairman emphasized that the female lawmaker in the upper legislative Chamber never sponsored a bill or motion that represent the interest of her Senatorial district throughout the period her as well as she could not empower her constituents with money accrued to her office.

“We want a Senator that will be accessible, a Senator our people can easily reach not one that hardly come near the people. We don’t want somebody who would be distracted because of constant attendance to cases with anti corruption agencies.”
