Houses, properties destroyed in fresh Adamawa communal crisis
Communal crisis in communities of Waja and Lunguda in Lafia, Lamurde Local Government Council of Adamawa State has led to the destruction of several houses and shops on Monday.
A woman was reportedly burnt to death in reprisal attack, but the Police said, four suspects have been arrestrd in connection with the heinous act.
A resident who escaped unhurt narrated that fresh crisis erupted between 6:00pm and 7:00pm in Lafiya where miscreants went on rampage, setting houses, shops and other property fire.
11 shops and 4 houses were burnt in the clash before intervention of the police.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying that the situation has been brought under control.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, S.K. Akande, was at the scene of the incident on Tuesday, and that nomalcy has since returned in the area.
He said that investigation is going on to arrest the perpetrators and vowed that the Command will ruthlessly deal with those behind the unfortunate incident.
