Suspected armed members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) reportedly abducted two vigilante members and killed them.

The rampaging IPOB gunmen have been consistently attacking Anambra State with the latest being abduction of vigilante operatives.

Change of Name

The victims identified as Elochukwu popularly known as Ogbaka Ekwu and Comrade Abiriwa, both members of Umuora Uga vigilante group, from Umuoru Uga village, Aguata LGA were abducted at their duty post in the early hours of Monday, December 19, 2022.

Agbaka’s body was found dumped in an area called Akpulu hours later.

On Friday, December 23, Abiriwa was reportedly found dead somewhere in Imo State.

“Abiriwa or Ozughiezu is gone. Comrade Abiriwa of umuoru uga,” a post on the community Facebook page read.

“He was abducted on Monday with Agbaka at their duty post very early Morning. Agbaka dead body was found at akpulu.

“Today we got a news that Abiriwa who was taken away was found dead at imo state. Very painful. May their soul rest in peace.”

This is coming few days after some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were killed by gunmen for defying a kangaroo sit-at-home order in Anambra State.

Simon Ekpa, a Finland-based self-proclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, had declared a five-day sit-at-home across ‘Biafra land’ (South-East region of Nigeria) comprising five states – Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi.

He declared the sit-at-home to test the resolve of the people to boycott the 2023 general elections.

However, the detained leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, through his counsel, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, countered the directive and asked IPOB faithful to ignore the order as he never authorised it.
