Osun governor, Adeleke hurriedly obtain degree in 24 days, witness tells Tribunal

Amid the ongoing legal fireworks at the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo, the Chairman of the Osun State Chieftaincy Affairs Review Committee, Rev Samuel Bunmi Jenyo, said, governor Ademola Adeleke hurriedly obtained his degree certificate in 24 days.

Adeleke’s educational qualification has sparked controversy as he got interested in the Osun governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party with the development snowballed into Tribunal adjudication after he was petitioned by the former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Change of Name

Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was defeated in the governorship election and he approached the Tribunal on two contentious issues. He claimed that there was over voting and alleged that Ademola Adeleke forged his Degree certificate, hence, he wants to reclaim his mandate.

Meanwhile, Jenyo who claimed to be a personal assistant to Adeleke said the Osun State Governor obtained his Diploma Certificate in Penn Foster High School on 16th July 2021.

He further stated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor obtained a degree from Atlanta Metropolitan College on the 9th of August 2021 within a period of 24 days.

The witness told the Justice Tertsea Kume-led Election Tribunal on Friday in Osogbo.

To back up his claims before the Tribunal, Jenyo tendered Adeleke’s certificates, bearing Penn Foster High School and Atlanta Metropolitan State College and insisted that the Degree was hurriedly obtained in 24 days.

During his cross examination, he admitted keeping Ademola Adeleke’s documents as his Personal Assistant, adding that he never worked in any of.tje Institutions, Adeleke claimed to have attended.

He said: “I have access to Ademola Adeleke’s certificates, Academic details and other documents because I served as his Personal Assistant.”

He also revealed to the Special Court that he attended Adeleke’s graduation ceremony, but such details does usually reflect on International Passport.

After the Cross-examination, Adeleke’s counsel closed his case.

Subsequently, counsel for PDP, Alex Izinyon (SAN), also opened his case and told the panel that he would not be calling any witness but would be relying on the evidence of the two other respondents. He then tendered some documents and closed his case.
