A North West based notorious bandits kingpin, Dogo Gide said he deliberately married off eleven girls out of 90 students of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State to humiliate government.

The terrorist revealed through a telephone conversation with the Spokesperson of the FGC Yauri pupils’ parents and guardians, Salim Kaoje.

Change of Name

Mr Kaoje’s sister, Farida Kaoje, was among the abductees who the terrorist kingpin said, she is married to him.

CAPITAL POST recalled that 90 pupils and 11 teachers were abducted last year from the Federal Government College Birnin Yauri with 11 of whom are still being held in captivity.

The terrorist, while explaining to Mr Kaoje why he insisted on collecting the N100 million ransom, said he abducted the pupils to spite the government.

He claimed that government has reneged on its agreement, a reason, he said, infuriated him.

Some of the abductees were rescued by Kebbi State government including teachers, while some escaped from captivity.

According to him, he helped in negotiating the release of pupils abducted from Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State, but was betrayed by government.

Mr Gide said he helped the “government” when some “thieves” abducted pupils from Government Science College, Kagara with the agreement that his arrested fighters would be released.

He insisted that he was betrayed because none of his fighters were released after he helped negotiate the release of the pupils.

The terrorist said he was instead branded a Boko Haram member.

“You… you don’t know why I abducted these pupils. Let me even tell why I abducted them in the first place. I was told to get those from Kagara (Kagara pupils) and they would release my people that were arrested.

I ordered that the Kagara pupils should be released but after that they betrayed me and refused to release any of my people. They said I’m a Boko Haram member which made me angry. I decided to arrest these people and said my people must be released before I release them (FGC Yauri pupils).”

Gide said some government negotiators prompted him into asking for ransom payment running into millions of naira.
