Unknown gunmen assassinate State Assembly candidate, set house ablaze in Imo
Unknown gunmen on Thursday night shot dead a House of Assembly candidate on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo State.
The deceased, Hon. Christopher Eleghu, alias WASCO was killed while taking his rest at home.
Eyewitness narrated that immediately the State Assembly hopeful was shot, his house and cars parked in the compound were set ablaze.
The assassination came after there were many attacks on facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Imo.
The attackers were believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a separatist group that has been proscribed by the Nigerian government.
