Pregnant woman killed in Police gun battle with unknown gunmen in Enugu market

A pregnant woman was said to have been killed after she was hit by a stray bullet in Police and unknown gunmen gun fire on Saturday.

Reports said, the gun men have in the early hours of Saturday stormed the popular new market in Enugu to enforce the sit-at-home order and the Police patrol team ran into them, which resulted into exchange of fire.

Sadly, the deceased pregnant woman and two others unluckily fell to bullets, according to details that emerged on Sunday.

The gunmen we’re said to have forced marketers to close shops and go home shortly before the Police ran into them.

Though, the identity of the dead has not been released officially by the Enugu State Police Command as at Sunday, the deceased was said to have gone to the market in the early hours of Saturday.

According to reports, the pregnant woman into one of the stores at the market to hide but was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.

The police officers later fled the area when it became obvious the gunmen had more firepower than them. The Police patrol vehicle was also set on fire by the gunmen.
