The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Kaduna State, Dr Jonathan Asake said on Friday that when voted into power, his administration will ensure that the security of lives and properties of the people in the state is guaranteed.

The governorship candidate revealed this during a media parley organized by the Kaduna state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). The governorship hopeful pointed out that security remains his cardinal objective because no meaningful development can be achieved in the absence of peace and security. He promised to work in synergy with security agencies and all other stakeholders to ensure a crime free state where everyone would sleep with their two eyes closed.

Change of Name

The governorship hopeful promised that his administration would ensure that that Kaduna state gets a new lease of life that would enhance the living standards of its people. He pointed out that his administration would restore the state to its former glory. He said. “I will focus on transforming the state from a consumer economy to a production economy that would be propelled by the energy and creativity of the youths. I will roll out policies that would enhance women empowerment and include them as an integral part of my government”.

Asake lamented how some people have decided to launch a campaign of calumny against him over the 200 million naira donated by Governor Wike of River state to support IDPs in Kaduna state when he was the president of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU).

He said that those trying to smear his good name over how the funds was disbursed under his leadership deliberately decided to ignore the records which clearly shows that funds were used appropriately. Asake revealed that out of the 120 million naira given to SOKAPU, 60 million naira was disbursed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), leaving a balance of 60 million naira which he left behind in SOKAPU account when he decided to run for governorship. He described the accusation as baseless and not unconnected to his political ambition.

Asake called upon all electorates in the state to vote for him as governor as doing so would guarantee a purposed driven leadership that will revolve around the well being of all the people of Kaduna state irrespective of their beliefs, status, tribal, cultural and political persuasions.
