Domestic violence: Man beat wife to coma for attending church in Kogi

A middle aged man on Saturday beat his wife to a state of coma at Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Area in Kogi East Senatorial District.

Narrating the ordeal of the woman who is recuperating at an undisclosed hospital at Anyigba, her Pastor, Prophet Samuel Ocheje, explained that the woman was beaten to stupor because the husband alleged that she wouldn’t obey his commandments.

The Prophet, was quoted as saying, the woman in question is his church member, noting that he was familiar with her husband’s threats on the wife.

“She has been telling me about her husband’s persistent threat on her life if she continues going to my church, though I tried on several occasions to resolve the issue but all to avail.

“I don’t know what I have done wrong, or what my ministry has done wrong to deserve this hatred from this man who doesn’t want his wife to be part of us.

“I wake up this morning, to this sad development and I am completely sad that human being can batter his fellow human like this, talk-less of a wife to the perpetrator.

“May God Almighty judge us accordingly. The prophet laments.

The husband reportedly left the house for unknown places immediately the incident happened.
