Adamawa governor escapes death as truck runs into convoy
Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri on Saturday cheated death as a truck on full speed ran into his convoy in Yola metropolis.
The truck however hit two vehicles in the governor’s convoy which two persons were injured.
Some Commissioners, security aides and other top government officials in his entourage were carried in a black Mercedes bus after attending a wedding at Agga Mosque in Dougirei highbrow area of Yola, the state capital.
Those injured after the tipper crushed two vehicles in the convoy are two policemen identified as Inspector Madu and Sergeant Isa.
Eye witness narrated that the tipper failed break, but the driver had managed to steer away from the direction of the bus conveying the governor to hit the official vehicle of the Permanent Secretary, Political and Security Affairs at the government house, and a Peugeot 406 conveying a video journalist and the two injured policemen.
The tipper driver who is an elderly man was manhandled by security escorts with a young man who pleaded with security agents to have mercy and were taken to Jimeta Police station in Yola.
They were seen being carried in a police pick up van while the tipper was left with the damaged official vehicles at the time of the report.
Meanwhile, the governor, who came out unhurt, personally rebuked the driver after which he was hurriedly transferred to a Toyota jeep and left the scene.
