Former Governor of Plateau State and member of the PDP integrity Group, Sen. Jonah David Jang has said the demand for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu is needed for equitable distribution of elective offices in the party.

He said it is their desire for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar to contest and win the 2023 elections but that can be achieved under a just, fair and equitable manner.

Change of Name

Jang in a press statement issued in Jos on Wednesday by his Media Consultant Mr Clinton Garuba while reacting to a press conference by Plateau Atiku Movement, a group working for the success of Atiku Abubakar in Plateau had expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of a meeting by the integrity group which has insisted on the resignation of the National Chairman of the party.

The Former Governor who is a member of the integrity group, said he has stood for the interest of the people of Plateau State and will continue to defend the interest of the people anywhere he found himself.

“It must be made clear that the demand for the resignation of the party chairman is borne out of the need for the equitable distribution of elective offices in the party. One wonders what the difficulty is with understanding that position . However, it will amount to crying louder than the bereaved since the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom who should be in the fore front in defending the chairman is chief amongst those calling for his resignation.

“With regard to Plateau State, none of the leaders of the group who made the release can say that Senator Jonah Jang as a leader has never stood by his people. You would never find him wanting when it comes to defending what is in the best interest of Plateau or her people. It is unfortunate that for personal gains, or perhaps in seeking for relevance the group has decided to ignore this very noble quality of the former Governor of the state , Dr. Jonah David Jang”

“The Integrity Group which Jang is a member of, has repeatedly said that their doors are open for reconciliation and this is because members of the group and PDP members through and through.

“It is their desire that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar not only contests the election but wins but that can only be achieved in a just, fair and equitable manner. Not with the current prevailing atmosphere of lopsidedness.

Jang explained that the resignation of the BoT chairman to give way for a Southern BOT Chairman was unnecessary as it was the chairman of the party that the integrity group is demanding for his resignation.

It would be recalled that a PDP group Plateau for Atiku Movement has expressed utter disappointment at former Governor of Plateau State Sen. Jonah Jang for his involvement with the G 5 Governors.

The group also raised concerns over the activities of the G 5 governors and their supporters and condemned, in totality, what they described as unprovoked attacks on the PDP national chairman Sen. Iyorchia Ayu.

The Atiku movement during a Press Conference at the NUJ Press centre in Jos on Tuesday through it’s Spokesman and Former Speaker of Plateau State Rt. Hon. Istifanus Mwansat said as a critical stakeholders of the PDP in the state they note with concern ,the role played by the elder statesman Jonah Jang in the challenges faced by the party .

“As stakeholders working for the victory of the PDP, we are deeply concerned by the involvement and participation of one of our leaders and former Governor of Plateau,Senator and member of the board of trustees ,founding member of the PDP ,his Excellency Dr David Jang with the Port Harcourt / Lagos group.
