Osinbajo apologises to Tinubu for not acknowledging him at funeral service
Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has tendered an apology for failing to acknowledge the presence of of the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the funeral of the late mother of Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
The funeral took place on Saturday at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Owo, which witnessed high profile personalities, top politicians governors and business men.
While giving his address Prof. Osinbajo acknowledged the presence of Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti, as well as Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dapo Abiodun, governors of Lagos and Ogun, but didn’t acknowledge the presence of Tinubu.
Other notable persons, he acknowledged include the Chief Judge of Ondo State,
former governors, lawmakers, ministers, Senators and captains of industry amongst others.
As the Vice was elusive of Tinubu during his address, his aide dropped a piece of paper to remind his boss of the presence of Tinubu, who is already seated in front row.
Immediately, Osinbajo announced that he made a mistake to haven’t acknowledged the presence of the presidential flagbearer of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said: “The Emilokan. Asiwaju, I’m sorry. He was sitting right next to me. Not just sitting right next to me, but right in front of me, but I honour you and welcome you to this event.”
