2023: Peter Obi’s deals with aggrieved PDP governors
By Dr Moses George
The speculation that the Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi is working with the aggrieved governors elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to win the 2023 presidential election might have been put to rest.
It would be recalled that recently, Obi had series of meetings with Governors Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State all of whom had earlier fallen out with the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
However, speaking in Makurdi during Obi’s recent visit to the state capital, he said that he and the PDP governors have a common interest in the emergence of a better Nigeria. Obi said that, “The only deal I have with them is that they are passionate about Nigeria,”
Peter Obi criticized the All Progressive Congress, APC government for their lack of leadership and inability to handle the current security and economic challenges confronting Nigeria. He praised Governor Samuel Ortom for his unrelenting efforts to combat insecurity in Benue state even at personal risk
