BREAKING: Adamawa APC female governorship candidate, Aisha loses ticket
Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani on Friday lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the 2023 general election.
The development followed the judgement which nullified the Adamawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries by the Federal High Court sitting in Yola.
The Court further held that the APC cannot field governorship candidate in 2023.
The Court’s judgement followed the litigation mounted by the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu.
Ribadu contended that the primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa on May 26, 2022 that produced Senator Binani was flawed with over voting and ‘illegal delegates’.
The trio of Nuhu Ribadu and the former governor of Adamawa State, Jibrilla Bindow, Hon. Abdulrasaq Namdas and two others lost the controversial governorship primaries to the female Senator.
The presiding judge,.Justice Abdullaziz Anka on Friday declared the candidature of Senator Aishatu Binani a nullity.
He held that 50 delegates from Lamurde Local Government Area (LGA) who ought not to have voted during the primary election were allowed. He also held that there was no evidence that the party had conducted a Special Ad-hoc Delegates election in that particular place.
He therefore declared that APC cannot field any candidate in the forthcoming 2023 election.
