National Award conferred on Governor Lalong is well deserved, says Dr. Nentawe
The Plateau State APC Governorship candidate for the 2023 general election, Dr. Yilwatda Nentawe has described the National award conferred on Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State by President Muhammadu Buhari as well deserved.
Dr Nentawe in a statement issued in Jos on Wednesday and made available to CAPITAL POST noted that the National award on Lalong did not come to him and other well-meaning Nigerians as a surprise considering the Lalong’s long span of meritorious service to his state and the country.
”Lalong having served as a speaker of the State House of Assembly for about seven years, a two-term Governor and subsequently chairman of the nineteen governors forum as well as the Director-General Tinubu -Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Mr Lalong deserves no less an award.” Dr Nentawe stressed
Dr Nentawe said the gesture by the Federal government amounted to giving honour to whom honour is due.
The Plateau APC governorship candidate observed that such recognition and honour given to persons who distinguished themselves in various capacities will undoubtedly serve as a challenge to other Nigerians to put in their best in service to the country.
He applauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal government for deeming it fit to recognise and honour governor Lalong as well as other distinguished Plateau State sons and daughters with national awards.
He charged the recipients of the National awards to see the awards given not only as a personal recognition, but also as honour is done to Plateau state.
He enjoined the awardees to continue to give quality leadership and mentorship to the younger generation for a better and prosperous future.
