Katsina Assembly member dies, buried in Saudi Arabia
A Katsina State House of Assembly member, Hon. Ibrahim Kurami has reportedly died and was buried in Saudi Arabia.
The late Kurami represented Bakori Local Government Area State Constituency in the Assembly, and travelled to Saudi Arabia for a lesser Hajj (Umrah).
His death was confirmed to journalists in Katsina on Monday by the the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Ali Baba, who said the remains of the State lawmaker has been buried in Madina.
Hon. Al-Baba didn’t give details on circumstances that led to the death of Hon. Kurami in Saudi Arabia, but lawmakers would pay a condolence visit to his home town to commiserate with his constituents after an ongoing workshop in Kano which they are participants.
The deceased is survived by two wives, eleven children and three grandchildren.
Kurami was an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker who also won the last primary to represent the Constituency under the platform of the party in 2023.
The late lawmaker was elected into the 34-member Katsina Assembly in a by-election of 31, October 2020, following the death of his predecessor in office, Abdurrazak Ismail Tsiga.
Terrorists kidnapped Kurami’s first wife and two sons on September 5, 2021 but regained freedom after ransom was paid.
