Flooding: Idah Catholic Diocese in Kogi opens IDP camp

The Catholic Archbishop of Idah Diocese in Kogi State, Most Revered Anthony Ademu Adaji, has yielded to the displaced people’s clamour after being rendered homeless by the natural disaster of flooding and provided temporary shelter and transportation to enable the victims move from Ibaji Local Government to Idah Local Government area of the State.

In a special announcement released on Friday, but which was sent to CAPITAL POST on Sunday by the Directorate of Communications, Catholic Diocese of Idah, Rev Anthony Okoliko asked victims and thier families to respond to the mission’s overture.

Change of Name

The gesture by the Diocese, a routine exercise was to respond to the distress call and part of his usual concern of the Catholic community in the area.

The decision was in direct response to victims of floodings still stranded in Ibaji area already flooded to move towards Idah Local Government Area.

Consequently, the Catholic community had designated one of its own clergy as a contact person, Rev Fr Innocent Apeh who has been directed to liaise with victims and their families to ensure temporary succour for the flood victims in Ibaji.

As at press time, both the state and public spirited organizations have not responded to the call of flood victims in Ibaji local government area for assistance, but an unconfirmed reports said the House of Representatives candidate for PDP in the next year’s general elections, Mr Victor Uchola donated 1.5M to the victims.
