The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr Babachir Lawal have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The duo who were formerly staunch members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have been spearheading resistance to Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general election.
They decried the nomination of the former governor of Borno State as running mate instead of a Christian since the standard flagbearer, Ahmed Bola Tinubu is a Muslim.
As a result of their stiff resistance to the same faith ticket, they were excluded from the 422-man Presidential Campaign Council which President Muhammadu Buhari is the Chairman.
