Ortom denies backing removal of Iyorchia Ayu as PDP National Chairman

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has denied claims that he support dnthe removal of Dr Iyorchia Ayu as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ortom is a close ally of Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike who stoke crisis in the opposition party after he lost the presidential primary to the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Change of Name

Wike after entreaties from some well meaning PDP members insisted on the removal of the National Chairman as condition for peace, a development that the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar declined, citing due process.

Ortom’s reaction followed the accusations by a group, Jemgbagh Development Association, that he was involved in the planned rrmoval of Iyorchia Ayu whonis an indigene of Benue State.

This was contained in a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, noting that Benue State governor can’t be part of the removal of Dr Iyorchia Ayu.

Ortom expressed the relief that Ayu would lead the party to victory in 2023 general election.
