Tension in Kaduna as El-Rufai issues 4 days quit notice to shop owners
There is palpable fear among the residents of Kaduna metropolis especially shop owners as the State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has issued quit notice to shop owners within four days or face demolition.
The governor issued the quit notice through Kaduna State Urban Development Agency (KASUDA), stating that every shop owner within the metropolis as well as Kaduna-Abuja Federal High way should quit immediately.
Reports reaching CAPITAL POST explained that those affected have been running helter skelter, wondering how they would survive the directive particularly that there was no official arrangement that would mitigate the hardship occasioned by the development.
A woman who runs a restaurant while speaking with our correspondent under anonymity explained how she pays N86,000.00 monthly as salaries for those working in her restaurant, stating that the quit notice would affect her businesses.
“I am a proprietor of a popular restaurant in Kaduna and every month, I pay about N86,000.00 as salaries and I also earn a living from my restaurant business. With this development, I can’t imagine what would happen.
“Why can’t Kaduna State government provide an alternative for us. Those of us who struggle to earn a living through shops are more in number than those in market shops and with this directive, millions of people would be rendered jobless”, she lamented.
Effort to speak with Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Mr Samuel Aruwan did not yield result as he never pick his calls as at the time of filing this report.
