Agriculture: AGRICON CEO announces 2022 edition of conference and expo

The hope of farmers in Nigeria is renewed as Agribusiness Innovation limited has announced the 2022 edition of the Agric business conference AGRICON and Expo 2022.

The annual event is targeted towards exposing Nigerian farmers to modern farming techniques and improving their exportation potentials through the provision of linkage opportunities to the international market.

Change of Name

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, the Chief Executive Officer of AGRICON, Mrs Stella Oraka, said the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory is partnering with AGRICON to organise the two day conference, scheduled to hold on the 26th and 27th of September.

The theme of this year’s conference is #End hunger today, unveiling and entrenching sustainable food solutions through mechanisation and innovation.

According to Oraka, unskilled farmers will be given opportunity to learn modern agricultural techniques and export expertise.

She said buying and selling will also take place at the conference.

She said “We are using this opportunity to bring up farmers to learn from this activity. Texas Ministry of Agriculture is coming again to assist people. We have the US Beef, knowing that Nigeria is blessed with beef industry, they (US beef) want to partner with the most agricultural set up on how Nigeria can have the best beef. All these are work towards ending hunger in Nigeria.

“Our farmers are going to showcase smart agriculture, minimising post harvest loss, see new emerging crops, these emerging crops, some of them have vitamin A, like the orange fresh sweet potato, casava fresh sweet potato, all these are new crops that can help to improve agriculture, improve yield and reduce poverty.

“We have a market place, where we have the hello seller and we have the hello buyer. Bring whatever you have, you will sell and whatever you want, you will buy.

“We have side training, back to back in the conference, where people are thought how to make their own honey, fish, snail and make your dollar. You will also be thought how to make solar driers.

“Nigeria is blessed compare to other countries that are mechanised, we should plant what we eat and eat what we plant. Let that be our key.

“We must make sure we showcase the raw material we have in this country to the outside world, this will step up the value of naira”, she added.
