Plateau APC governorship candidate names ex-Unijos Vice Chancellor as Campaign DG, others
The All Progressives Congress governorship Candidate in Plateau State Dr Yilwatda Nentawe on Wednesday unveiled his Campaign team headed by the Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Sebastian Maimako as the Director General.
The governorship candidate accompanied by his wife, and running mate, while unveiling the campaign team at the popular Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos in the presence of a mammoth crowd of supporters pledge to unite the state irrespective of tribe and religious affiliation when elected governor.
It could be recalled that the APC candidate last week appointed Prof Sebastian Maimako who is a Professor of accounting and finance as its Director General campaign council, as well as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Saleh Yepmong as Deputy Director of campaigns amongst other strong politicians.
Nentawe also pledged to utilise the potential of youths for growth, progress and development of the state if elected in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
“We will address the State’s economy and 10% of the State IGR will be deployed to address issues of the vulnerable groups like the youths, women, and people living with disabilities.”
He also promised to be transparent in handling the state affairs, “We will be transparent, free, fair and run an all-inclusive government while the youths will be mentored and appointed as commissioners and other positions.”
He said stringent measures would be taken to tackle insecurity, as well as he would revamp the educational sector.
“I call on the people of the state to continue to support our party at all times, I have the interest of Plateau at heart and I would transform the state if elected.”
The State chairman of the APC in the State Hon Rufus Bature warned members of the party against anti-party activities, stressing that the APC is a party of discipline.
He lamented the attitude of some few in the party who are plotting to vote for other candidates from other political parties, saying if the party identified them they will be punished and urged members to support the party at all times, adding that there is a sure victory for the party come 2023.
“We have the confidence that we will win the 2023 elections, from the Presidency, National Assembly, Governorship and the House of Assembly, we will deliver.
“We are fully prepared and ready to go for the campaigns, we are waiting for the bell to be rung to start the campaign.
Speaking on behalf of the elders of the Plateau North Senatorial zone, Ambassador Ibrahim Kasai stressed that with what is on the ground, the APC would win the Plateau Governorship election
He described the unveiling ceremony of the DG Campaign and others as “Overwhelming” adding that the huge crowd is an indication that the APC flagbearer will win the state in next year’s Governorship election, “We were overwhelmed with the turn out he added.
The Newly unveiled Director General of the Dr Yilwatda Nentawe campaign team Prof Maimako pledged to go to every part of the state to campaign for the Candidate.
He added that Dr Nentawe is a good candidate that would revamp major sectors of the state if given the opportunity.
Some of the dignitaries who attended the unveiling were the Director General of the Industrial Training Fund ITF Sir Joseph Ari, Deputy National Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister, Festus Fuanter, Secretary to the Plateau State Government Professor Danladi Atu, Speaker House of Assembly Rt. Yakubu Sanda and all the Candidates for Senatorial, Federal house of representatives, state of Assemblies, Local Government council chairman APC Youths and women leaders amongst others.
