6 bandit informants paraded in Zamfara, give details on mode of operation

Six informants to bandits who were earlier arrested by the Police have been paraded by the Zamfara Police Command in Gusau.

The Police said, intelligence gathering exposed the criminals in passing information to bandits and terrorists.

Change of Name

Their names are Abubakar Mainasara, Babangida Moh’d, Jamilu Kawali, Lawal Ibrahim, Surajo Idris, Amadu Rufai.

The suspects who are age 30 to 38 confessed to committing the crime by passing relevant information to terrorists to aid the abduction of community members for ransom as well as supplying military camouflages.

Meanwhile, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Mohammed Shehu revealed that the informants were fully into the supply of military camouflages, but met their dead end after their deal involving the supply of military uniforms for N850,000 got busted by security operatives.

A suspect named Abubakar Mainasara in his confession to the Police, revealed that he collected the amount in order to supply military uniforms, but he gave the money to one, Babangida also known as Major who also collaborated with a tailor to sew the uniforms for delivery to terrorists in the forest.

The same suspect further confessed to collecting N2m from terrorists to supply arms and ammunition for them, even though, two of his accomplices Lawal Ibrahim and Surajo Idris told police operatives the money given to the suspect was N6m for the arms deal.

Babaginda also confessed to receiving N1m to supply 10 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition which was handed over to terrorists.

Babangida who claimed to be an ex-soldier was arrested alongside others with possession of a locally fabricated revolver Gun, Military camouflage uniforms, a fake Military I.D Card and other dangerous weapons.
