Sacked Plateau Reps member reacts, says his mandate remains intact
Member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Musa Avia Agah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described his mandate as a divine one that can’t be taken away by the tribunal, but only by God himself.
It would be recalled that on 2nd September 2022 the National and States Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos High Court had nullified the election of Hon. Musa Avia Agah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declared the candidate of the PRP Alhaji Mohammed Goni as the winner.
In its ruling, the tribunal led by Justice Hope Ozoh held that Hon. Agah was not validly nominated by the PDP for the bye-election conducted on February 26, 2022, which declared him the winner.
But Hon. Musa Agah while reacting to the decision of the court said that his mandate is a divine one and can only be taken away by God.
Speaking to journalists in Jos on Monday about the Tribunal Judgement that favoured the PRP Candidate, Agah stated that he has already appealed the judgement, and expressed confidence that since it is a God divine mandate, he will be victorious at the Appeal Court.
Agah faulted the judgment and said the matter is already before the Appeal Court.
The lawmaker encourages his constituents not to panic, stating that his mandate remains intact having appealed against the judgement.
He assured them of determination and commitment to deliver dividends of democracy as their representative.
“Within the short time I have been in the National Assembly, I have sponsored two bills. A bill to upgrade the Cottage Hospital in Bassa to Federal Medical Centre and a bill to upgrade Relevant Technology Centre to Federal College of Education Technical.
“Already, one of the bills has passed second reading and I am optimistic that both of them will sail through,” he said.
The lawmaker further assured the people that he would continue to do his best within his strength and resources to give them effective representation in the Green Chamber
He however debunks insinuations in some quarters that he has abandoned his Constituents since his assumption as a representative of the people
Adding that at no point in time did he abandon his constituents since they were the ones that elected him, “my election as a Lawmaker is the handiwork of my constituency so why should l deny them and refuse to pick their calls”. he started.
