Attack on Senator Ubah: Ten persons killed
Ten persons have been reportedly killed after gunmen rained bullets on the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah on Sunday evening.
Senator Ubah representing Anambra South Senatorial district on the platform of the Young Peoples Party (YPP) came under gun attack by a yet-to-be identified gun men, he escaped unhurt.
A source close to Ubah’s family gave details to some journalists, stating that among those killed was the politician’s personal treasurer, Mr Ikechukwu Odum, his Personal Assistant, Mr Goodness Mathias.
“Another man killed, who was not in the convoy of the Senator was identified as Onowu Agu-Ukwu Nri. He is said to be a titled chief in the neighbouring Nri community and had just driven to Enugwu-Ukwu to drop someone who visited him, who would be travelling to Lagos this morning, and he was unlucky to be at that point at the time when Senator Ubah was going to be attacked.
The slain Agu-Ukwu Nri was mistaken to have been part of Ubah’s team, given that
was driving his big SUV.
Others confirmed to have been killed were six mobile Police personnel and his driver.
The soure said: “In the confusion yesterday, all the cars were just hitting each other. Since the vehicle the Senator was driving in was a bullet proof car, his driver managed to manoeuver out of the damaged cars and drive away, even as it was being shot at.”
