The former governor of Kano State and the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Political Party (NNPP) was on Wednesday booed and molested with satchet water in Lokoja by the angry members of the NNPP.

The politician who is an ally of the late Prince Abubakar Audu went to Ogbonicha in Kogi East to honour the late Audu earlier in the day and returned to Lokoja only to meet his rebellious members waiting for him.

Change of Name

Things further turned awry when he tried to woo loyalists of the late Prince Abubakar Audu and the throwing of satchet water, stones started. Our correspondent in Lokoja reports that a faction of NNPP in Kogi influenced the booing and throwing of satchet water.

Kwankwaso, they alleged, gave prominence to a faction of NNPP who were die-hard loyalists of the Prince Abubakar Audu, but who joined the NNPP lately. An angry member, who simply identified himself as Abdullahi, a resident of Kabawa area of Lokoja told CAPITAL POST that “we formed NNPP in Kogi and mobilise members only for the the National party leader to recognise those who joined us late.”

“Our pain is that the NNPP has been factionised even as we are trying to solidify it in Kogi State.

“We waited since morning only for Kwankwaso to abandon us for Audu’s loyalists”, he said.

He claimed that Audu’s loyalists are still members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who were trying to destroy the newly formed NNPP in Kogi State.

CAPITAL POST observed that the presidential candidate who arrived in motorcade was not allowed audience, until security agents moved him to safety at an undisclosed hotel.

Reacting, one of his aides described the action as normal in politics, saying that the action shows, NNPP is prominent in Kogi State.
