Killing of NURTW leader, “Arikuyeri” generates tension in Lagos
Tension was gradually reaching its peak at Mile 12 area of Lagos on Sunday as a popular member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW in Lagos, Sulaimon Lawal Onaolapo popularly known as ‘Arikuyeri’ was killed.
The late Arikuyeri’ who was also a member of a cult group was killed in broad day light murdered by members of a rival cult group in an on-going battle for control of motor parks in Mile 12 area of Lagos.
For long, battle for control of Mile 12 area of Lagos has been ongoing which the late Onaolapo was in charge.
Three members of a rival group were reportedly seen Footage seen bludgeoning Arikuyeri, who was motionless on the ground with sticks and other sharp objects.
Motorists immediately deserted the Mile 12 under bridge to avoid being caught in the reprisal attack.
Confirming the incident, Lagos Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said; “One person died but normalcy has been restored. Police are on the ground,”.
