Ease of Doing Business: PEBEC to stage play for Nigerians on independence day
As part of activities to celebrate the 2022 independence day, Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business and Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Secretary, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, has announced that the council will be staging a play to celebrate individuals responsible for the accomplishment of some reforms for ease of doing business interventions in Nigeria.
Addressing a press conference on Friday in Abuja, Dr Oduwole said the play titled ‘The future is here’ will be staged on the 1st and 2nd of October in the Federal Capital Territory for 4,000 Nigerians.
She said although an excerpt and shorter version of the play was premiered last year (PEBEC 5th Anniversary) and visibly acceptable by the audience, the council saw the need to redo the play extensively and make it publicly available.
Dr Oduwole said “We feel it is important to celebrate the men and women who have delivered the reforms that we have been able to accomplish so far in the Ease of Doing Business interventions. We also want to celebrate our indefatigable entrepreneurs, (Micro, Small and Medium size Enterprises, MSMES) who have been working tirelessly to make a living and edge their living through entrepreneurship across the country.
“We want to celebrate our public and civil servants who have delivered reforms that we have done, from starting a business to visa on arrival, to automation of payment of taxes. So the human beings behind that work are those we want to celebrate. We want them to come and relax with their families on the 1st and 2nd of October.
“So it’s an invitation from PEBEC to public and civil servants and to MSMEs.
“We are going to open the portal next month for people to register, give us details and get tickets”.
Speaking further, the Presidential aide said, the second edition of the Ease of Doing Business report will be released after the play.
“Soon after the play, we will have the second edition of the Ease of Doing Business report released. That report covers the entire country and it is going to be used to create state action plans. So all states are going to create action plans with their private sectors.
“1st of December, we will have our PEBEC award. All the state that did well under the second report will be celebrated. We will also celebrate the agencies that has done alot of hard work”.
