No lives lost to Abuja building collapse – FEMA [Photos]
Rescue efforts are on goinlivesg for the remaining two persons trapped in the rubble of a collapsed one story building in Kubwa, a suburb of the FCT.
The Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency,
FEMA, Alhaji Abbas Idriss disclosed this after a briefing from the Acting Director Forecasting Response and Mitigation, Mrs Florence Wenegieme who led the search and rescue team to the scene of the incident.
Alhaji Idriss explained that the Agency received a distress call about the incident at 11.45 pm on Thursday evening and thereafter activated its stakeholders to the scene.
He informed that 5 persons were rescued and taken to Kubwa District Hospital, noting that two of the patients have since been discharged.
He commended all the stakeholders for their prompt response and cooperation.
Idriss also commended the construction companies who in line with their corporate social responsibilities mobilised and deployed all their resources to saving lives.
He also commended the Security Agencies for their vigilance and support
The FEMA boss also commended residents of the area for their cooperation during the rescue operations.
Alhaji Idriss who appealed to developers to always obey the building code also warned residents to desist from living in uncompleted buildings.
