PDP crisis: Thugs go wild, chase pro-Atiku away from meeting in Rivers
Ahead of 2023 general election, which the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar is the Presidential candidate would be an issue Rivers, as suspected thugs loyal to Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike on Sunday chased pro-Atiku away from holding meetings.
On Sunday, the meeting of the National Mandate Group, a group loyal to Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign in Rivers were to meet, but met resistance from thugs.
The group was led by Senator Lee Maeba who were to meet in Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government A rea of Rivers State.
Sunday’s meeting, it was hinted, was meant to endorse the candidature of Atiku Abubakar amid governor Wike’s feud with Abubakar.
Wike’s animosity with the PDP deepened as a result of the emergence of Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as presidential running mate.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has been placating Wike, as reconciliatory meetings have been held without successes.
