Atiku, Wike reconciliatory meeting deadlock after four hours in Port Harcourt
There may not been end in sight any time soon over crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as reconciliatory meeting between Nyesom Wike’s camp and that of Atiku Abubakar ended in stalemate on Friday.
The meeting which took place at Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt ended without any cogent consensus after four hours.
In a statement which was issued by the Media Aide to Rivers State governor,
Mr. Kelvin Ebiri, which was made available to journalists, disclosed the representatives of Atiku Abubakar to be
the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; Hon. Adamu Waziri and Hon. Eyitayo Jegede, while of Wike are, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State; former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke; former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko and former Governor of Gombe State, Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo.
Adamawa Governor in an interview with journalists after the meeting, however, expressed optimism that the discussion was ongoing and will achieve the best results.
Fintiri said, they are aware of how Nigerians want the crisis resolved so that the PDP can wrestle power from APC’s bad governance.
He pleaded for patience and expressed optimism that at the end of the day the committee would broker peace, unify the party and Nigerians.
“We are aware that Nigerians are anxious and waiting for the PDP to take over government in 2023.
“We have met as leaders, members of the same political family and we have opened the discussion, work is in progress and we will continue.
“At the end of the day, we will broker peace and we will unify the party and Nigerians,” Fintiri asserted.
Also speaking, Mimiko noted the agreement by members of the committee to bring about unity in the party would be achieved soon
Mimiko hinted that the committee would meet again to further deliberate on issues that need to be addressed.
“We have agreed that there is a need for us to enhance unity within our party.
“This is a reconciliation process, there are some issues out there which needs further deliberation when the committees meets again,” he said
