Nigerian Embassy in UAE abandon stranded Nigerians, frustrate their returns
Investigations of the ongoing events in Dubai, the United Arab emirates have revealed that several Nigerians have been abandoned by the Nigerian Embassy stationed at the Middle East country.
What has been most painful to fathom is that several of them who were trafficked, have escaped their traffickers and are now in fear of their lives.
Notably Annabel (Original names withheld), one of the girls is now missing since the girls were smuggled to Dubai Police CID who moved them to Alawir awaiting deportation back to Nigeria.
The girls fear she might have been retrieved by the traffickers who are also said to be highly connected and maybe killed for fear of exposing them.
Embassy Officials have refused to pick their calls or respond to messages also sent to them on how the Dubai incidence is unfolding and have refused to visit the holding facility.
This is not the first time the Nigerian officials have been observed to act this way as attempts made earlier in the year to rescue about three girls also trafficked to Dubai was frustrated as they refused to answer their calls or pick any messages until the girls had to return back to their captors to face the consequences of their fate.
The Nigerian girls have been in custody of the Dubai CID since Sunday as other citizens of other African countries have been returned back to their countries after their embassies intervened, however the Dubai CID say the girls will not be released until they see Nigerian officials.
