Again, troops raid bandits camp, free female hostages in Kaduna
Some female hostages have been freed following troops’ raid of identified bandits’ camp in Chikun forest in Kaduna South Senatorial district on Tuesday.
The raid is one of the clearance operations to get rid of terrorists, bandits and criminal elements operating in forests across the country.
CAPITAL POST learnt on Wednesday that the feed back had been made available to Kaduna State government on successes being recorded.
The troops of Operation Forest Sanity carried out the raid in the early hours of Tuesday and rescued female hostages in Kuriga and Manini communities of the Local Government.
Report said troops made contact and were initially friendly with the bandits, until the tide changed and engaged the bandits at the suspected enclave.
The operation led to the rescue of the following women: Sahura Hamisu, Ramlatu Umar, Saudatu Ibrahim, Maryam Shittu, Fatima Shuaibu, Khadijah Mohammed (along with her infant child).
The rescued persons have been safely reunited with their families.
Reacting, the Kaduna State government through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan acknowledged the rescue operations.
Commending the troops for their effort, the State government said: “The government warmly commended the troops, police personnel, intelligence operatives, vigilante members and other security forces, for another successful round of operations.”
“The Kaduna State Government conveys its deep appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, and the Director General, Department of State Services, for the ongoing wave of onslaughts against criminal enclaves.”
