Edo guber: APC panel screens Obaseki amid fears of disqualification
The ruling All Progressives Congress panel has screened the Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki on Wednesday amid fears of disqualification.
The Committee which was inaugurated on Tuesday by the Party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole screened Edo State governor who is seeking a second.term of office against Adams Oshiomhole’s wish.
Obaseki was screened exactly at 8.10 pm after four other governorship aspirants were.earlier screened, thereby putting to rest rumours making the rounds that he would not be screened on the orders of the National Chairman.
Reports said governorship aspirants who had earlier been screened on Wednesday include: Hon. Osaro Obaze, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Dr Pius Odubu.
CAPITAL POST, covering the National Secretariat of the APC observed that the camp of Obaseki was jittery initially when he earlier reported for the exercice, but hurriedly left after about five minutes and did not return till evening.
The governor arrived the party national secretariat at about 1:10, and went straight to the conference room venue of the screening execercise, but however left after just five minutes and later returned at about 8pm in the evening for the exercise.
As at the time of filling this report only one aspirant Hon Matthew Aigbuhuenze Iduoriyekemwen is yet to be screened with the continuation of others on Thursday.
The Professor Jonathan Ayuba led screening panel assured that due diligence would be observed in the screening process.
