Owo Catholic Church attack: Names of arrested ISWAP commanders released, tribe, LGA in Kogi State
A joint security operatives have captured some commanders of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) commanders that bombed a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State in June, 2022.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Lucky Irabor disclosed their names, where they were captured, State and part of the State they come from.
The CDS made the disclosure while interacting with senior editors on Tuesday, saying “that two suspects were apprehended on different joint operations with the help of the Nigerian Police, Department of State service and Nigerian army”
Following their identity that the captured ISWAP commanders are of Ebira speaking tribe in Kogi Central Senatorial district, the Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has sent warning to Ebira over cases of kidnapping in the state.
While revealing their names, the CDS said that the two suspects Idris Ojo 32 years old and Jimoh Ibrahim 39 years old are among the two top commanders in ISWAP in Nigeria.
The terrorists were captured on Sunday, but one, Idris Ojo was arrested in Ayetoro Ondo state, with other commanders as they were planning to carry out another operation in Kogi State.
The CDS said that the four other top commanders of the ISWAP were arrested in Eja Okehi LGA in Kogi state and their names are Idris Abdul Malik, Momoh Ojowu Abu, and Aliyu Yusuf, And Auwal Onimisi.
