The group in a statement to CAPITAL POST on Monday by Abdul Abdul blamed the state government of non-committal to the security of lives and properties of Kogi residents, saying the outcome of the last presidential election was responsible for the frequent presence of the state governor, in the state capital.

Before now, the state government had channeled the meagre resources into fruitless campaign of GYB to PYB presidential bid, living the ordinary Kogites to suffer, while it turned his success story on security only on the pages of newspapers.

He accused the state government of not making any deliberate efforts to secure the state from bandits, kidnappings and terrorists, but only issuing press statements.

“From Kogi Central, Kogi west and now Kogi east, the people were living in constant fears following frequent attacks, while the governor was prosecuting his moribund presidential ambition before his fatal defeat .”

“The security agencies lack necessary working tools to counter any security threats in the state, irrespective of more revenue outlets and increase in allocations from the federation account.”

Abdul urged the state government to provide security for the people of the state and take the welfare of state workers very seriously in payments of their entitlements.

The group says the presence of foreign and private investors in the state had increased the unaccounted IGR of the state , investors and investments, saying such growth should be channeled to workers welfare.

“The state government should make payment to state workers arrears of salaries/leave bonus, yearly incremental steps among many other welfare packages from the new 13% derivation as oil producing state, and 4 Billion State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability fund recently accessed by the state government from the federal government.
