PDP crisis: Wike calls for removal of National Chairman, one term for Atiku as conditions for settlement
Following the post primary election crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), River State governor, Nyesom Wike has called for the removal of the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Iorchia Ayu as condition for settlement.
This is even as PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) will meet on Wednesday to broker peace.
Wike contested for presidential election before he lost to the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the primary which was held at the national stadium in Abuja. Since then there have been no love lost between him and the Adamawa State born, Alhaji Atiku.
The crisis deepened when Atiku nominated the incumbent governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyichukwu Okowa as his choice of vice presidential candidate.
As PDP which is in the opposition struggles to resolve it’s crisis, and have been reaching out to Wike, he further gave a condition that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar must write an undertaking that he will spend only one term for him to get his support.
The two conditions which Wike outlined as conditions precedent for peace are expected to be looked into at the Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, including the consideration of appointing members of Wike’s camp into offices, if Atiku wins the presidential election.
