Failed juju: EFCC arrests self-acclaimed spiritualists for duping Ekiti Reps aspirant of N24 million
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) acting on petition has arrested two self-acclaimed spiritualists for collecting the sum of N24,074,000 to prepare winning juju, but which failed.
A 2023 House of Representatives aspirant in Ekiti State engaged them, having been assured by the spiritualists that he would win his primary election, but at the end, the whole arrangements failed.
The spiritualists who were identified as Alfa Abiodun Ibrahim and Wale Adifala, who along with one, Ifawole Ajibola, aka Baba Kalifa, now on the run could not secure victory for the Reps aspirant.
The petitioner accused them of fraud hence the anti-graft operatives arrested them on July 7, 2022 in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The agency revealed that the suspects have admitted to the crime, but said, the sum of N2.9 part of the money they collected from the victim was used to buy “black, brown and white cows, rams, lavender perfume and rings among other items to carry out sacrifices at different times.”
In his confession during interrogation, Alfa said: “I also linked up on the matter with Ifawole Ajibola, and we continued with the sacrifices together, until we were arrested by EFCC,” he said.
Ibrahim, who was the one who had prior contact with the victim, admitted collecting money at different times.
He said: “Our own is just to pray and do the necessary sacrifices, which we did, and to leave the rest to God.
“However, along the line, the zoning for the Reps seat was taken away from Oye-Ekiti to Ikole-Ekiti.”
They were arrested along with some of their instruments of trade.
They will soon be arraigned in court, the EFCC said.
