Niger: Brave vigilantes kill dozens of bandits in Munya LG

Some gang of dare devil armed bandits who were to wreak a deadly havock on some local communities of Kuchi in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State  on Monday met their waterloo as some local vigilante groups in the area repelled and overpowered them.

The armed bandits  who defied the early morning heavy downpour on Monday, were said to have abducted dozens of women and children in the  community.

The abducted victims were rescued, while the armed men were killed, even as several  others escaped with various degrees of gun wound.  CAPITAL POST  further gathered that  the heavily armed gun men stormed the community in their large numbers in the early hours of  Monday, amid downpour and invaded  the village forcing the local to come out of their rooms at gun point.

The bandits, it was gathered were kitted in military camouflage and were heavily armed with sophisticated weapons which they shoot indiscriminately to scare the locals.

During their offensive operation in the village, it was further gathered that the local hunters and the community vigilante groups  speedily mobilize themselves  and engaged the bandits in a fierce  gun battle and the joint teams of the vigilante groups killed dozens of the gun men while several others ran into the ever flowing river Kaduna.

CAPITAL POST gathered that the joint efforts of the local hunters and the community vigilante groups mobilize themselves from the neighboring communities of  Guni and  Kwubani to laid ambush on the unlucky armed bandits which resulted in the killing of the armed men.

The armed men were to carry out deadly attacks on a military camp in Sarkinpawa, in Munya local government early last week, but they suffered unprecedented casualties in the hands of the soldiers who laid ambush on them.
