Terrorists on way to attack Law School run into presidential guards in Abuja
Terrorists believed to be on their way to attack Nigerian Law School in Bwari on Monday ran into presidential guards leading to fiery exchange of fire that saw two soldiers critically injured.
This is coming barely 24 hours after bandits vowed to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Kaduna State Malam Nasir.El-Rifai.
Reports said, terrorists ambushed the presidential convoy, but the soldiers engaged them, leading to three of them being injured.
Residents of Bwari, Kubwa and other parts of Abuja were on Monday thrown into panic over the incident.
Earlier intelligence report pointed out that terrorists attack on the Federal Capital Territory !FCT) by terrorists was imminent.
A military source who pleaded anonymity confirmed that the terrorists were on their way to attack Nigerian Law School Bwari and other facilities, but said, the Military are on the trail of the criminal elements.
The troops who repelled bandits’ gun fire reports said, were 7 Guards Battalion who were on routine Kubwa – Bwari road.
“The ambush happening within the general area of Bwari shows that the terrorists are actually within the location and possibly to carry out their plans of attacking the Law School in Bwari as earlier reported,” the source stated.
When contacted, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Guards Brigade, Captain Godfrey Abakpa, confirmed that soldiers were attacked by suspected terrorists but were repelled successfully.
He said the wounded soldiers have been evacuated to the hospital, adding that soldiers are combing the environment.
