Deputy House of Reps Speaker’s kinsmen flee communities over bandits imminent attack

Kinsmen of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase have fled their various communities to avoid being attacked by the marauding bandits.

Various communities of Wase Local Government Council of Plateau State have been under consistent attacks by bandits.

Change of Name

A resident who has already fled and now residing in Wase Local Government Council headquarters, told journalists on Saturday that residents of Pinau have all deserted as at Saturday evening when information filtered in that soldiers and security personnel who have been watching were withdrawn for unknown reasons.

CAPITAL POST recalled that bandits attack left scores dead in August last year on a market day after which troops were deployed and have been there for close to a year.

The source who identified himself as
Garba Kasuwa, disclosed that troops were were withdrawn in the early hours of Saturday, adding that tension grips residents immediately.

“People are afraid that bandits will attack the village because the soldiers are not there. They have gone back to Wase, the headquarters of the LGA and no explanation was given in that regard.

He said bandits have clearly ordered them to quit after others residents have since fled following a quit notice giv n to them by bandits.

“I am also moving today with my family to Wase town. Our lives are in danger. Those who we rely on for protection have left. We just have to flee.”

Another resident of the community, Ubale Pinau, also said the community was no longer safe sine the soldiers had left.

He said, “We don’t know why they have left the community. We have been staying there because of their presence. Now that they are not there, we have to live also.”

The spokesperson for OPSH, whose personnel were stationed in the village, Major Ishaku Takwa, didn’t respond to a message sent to him by our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase hails Wase Local Government Council of Plateau State.
