Kogi: Bello awards Lokoja township road worth N4.76 billion after six years in office
Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has awarded a contract for the reconstruction of zone 8-barracks-Zango-GYB junction dual carriageway to Messrs CCECC Nig Ltd at the cost of N4.76 billion.
The road project is in Lokoja to township and which is the first of its kind in over six years, having taken over governance of the State on 26th January, 2016.
The contract award was disclosed at a
press briefing by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Muhammed Onogwu in Lokoja on Thursday.
Also, Onogwu revealed that the council ratified and awarded the construction of the establishment of Material/Building Testing Laboratory (via e-procurement) to Messrs Mathaus General Enterprises at the cost of Fifty-Nine Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety-Five Naira, Thirty-Eight Kobo (N59,672,395.38).
The laboratory was expected to address
the need to establish a standard testing laboratory to boost monitoring of quality delivery of road works, building infrastructure by contractors or direct labour in Kogi State.
The CPS said, decision was taken after the State Executive Council meeting, noting that other approvals included the construction of internal road networks at the Ajiolo-ojaji community Secondary School in Dekina Local Government Area.
Also, approved was the expansion of internal road networks at the College of Health Sciences, Idah, Idah Local Government Area and the expansion of internal road networks at the Zonal Hospital, Idah, Idah Local Government Area.
In the similar vein, KGSG also approved and directed the ministry of health for the supply of additional medical equipment at the Zonal Hospital, Idah and Prince Abubakar Audu University Teaching Hospital, Anyigba.
The Chief Press Secretary noted that the council received a report on the ongoing construction of works at the Faculty of Medical and health sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of computing and information technology, Senate building and University library of Prince Audu Abubakar University.
