BREAKING: APC Senator resigns membership

Former Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Magnus Abe has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of 2023 general election.

In a letter which he addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and seen by CAPITAL POST in Abuja on Tuesday, the former lawmaker in the upper legislative Chamber and a Chieftain of APC in Rivers State, said, his decision to quit APC was due to unwillingness of the standard flagbearer of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to negotiate with him.

He said, having served as a member in Rivers State House of Assembly, Secretary to Rivers State Government (SSG) and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it was time for him to advance his political career.

Abe added that his resignation would afford him opportunity to use another platform to actualize his governorship ambition in 2023.

Part of the letter read: “I wish to tender my resignation of membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“My decision to quit is not unconnected with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s seeming unwillingness to negotiate with me since he expects me to remain in the APC. Hence my resolve to seek alternative platform to actualize my Gubernatorial Ambition in Rivers State.

“I feel it is time to move on with my Ambition, having served this country as Lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly, SSG of Rivers State, and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Let me also use this moment to thank my teeming supporters, and some of those that defected from the APC, for standing by me in all these years, more importantly, H.E Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“In the coming days, I shall tell Nigerians my next political decision.”
