Zamfara governor suspends Emir for turbaning notorious bandits leader
Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has suspended the Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area, Aliyu Marafa, for turbaning a notorious bandits leader Sarkin Fulani.
The bandits leader, Ado Aleru who has been on the wanted list of Security agents was titled on Saturday amid serious concerns die to crime he perpetuated against the people of Zamfara State.
During the ceremony on Saturday evening which was brief, bandits reportedly came out on motorbikes in large numbers to honour one of their own.
They, however, didn’t bear arms when they came out to grace the occasion.
Reacting to the embarrassment of honouring a bandit leader, Zamfara State government through the Secretary to the State government, Kabiru Sardauna, announced the suspension of the Emir in a statement on Sunday.
The turbaning of the bandit leader as Sarkin Fulani which means Chief of Fulani went viral in news and photograph.
The State governor has also set up a Committee to investigate the suspended Emir.
The committee has Yahaya Goro as chairman and Musa Garba as secretary. Members are Yahay Kanoma, Muhammed Magaji, Lawal Zannah, Isa Moriki.
“In the meantime, Alh. Mahe Garba Marafa, who is the District Head of ‘Yandoto is hereby assigned to take charge of the affairs of the Emirate,” the statement said.
The Emir was quoted to have said that the bandit leader opted for peace with Tsafe and other neighbouring communities that have been incessantly attacked and had since then been leading peace meeting with other terrorist groups.
