The newly appointed Minister of Transportation, Engr. Mu’azu Sambo on Wednesday officially assumed office following the recent reshufflement of cabinet by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Engr. Sambo who was the immediate past Minister of state for works and housing was redeployed after the immediate past Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi resigned to contest for All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary.

The newly appointed Minister resumed alongside his Minister of State, Prince Ademola Adewole Adegoroye on wednesday in Abuja.

Speaking at a brief official handover ceremony by the erstwhile Minister of State for Transportation, Sen Gbemisola Saraki, Sambo assured that he will support President Buhari’s development agenda for the Transport ministry.

According to him, the Transport Ministry is home considering his experience, having started his career in the Maritime sector as a Civil Engineer with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and ended up as the  Lagos Area Manager of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

The Minister however called for the support and cooperation of management and staff of the Ministry in ensuring that with the little time he has to operate, much is achieved.

The Minister said: “We will look for the low hanging fruits and make sure that we put them on the table as quickly as possible.

“I have come with an open mind to do my best and humanity and posterity to judge” he said.

While handing over, the outgoing Minister of State for Transportation, Sen. Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki who is now deployed to the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development as Minister of State, reassured the Ministers that they have an exceptionally hard working team of staff in the Ministry of Transportation.

She further urged staff of the Ministry to extend their support to the newly appointed ministers.
