2023: Nasarawa LP Senatorial candidate, Dr Ibrahim speaks on hydro-power project as priority
The Labour Party Senatorial district candidate for Nasarawa North, Dr Musa Ibrahim said, he will concentrate on ensuring the completion of Farin Ruwa multi – million naira hydro power project, if elected in 2023.
Speaking with our correspondent shortly after he picked LP, Senatorial ticket in Lafia, Dr. Ibrahim noted that he will work round the clock to ensure, completion of multi-million naira Farin Ruwa water hydro power project because of its strategic nature to the socio-economic development of the State and country at large.
He said: “When I was Permanent Secretary that, Dam was conceived by the first civilian governor, Abdullahi Adamu, but was abandoned after about six billion naira was spent on that project. and subsequent government did little or nothing in the place.
“As Permanent Secretary, I met with the then governor of the State now, Senator, Umar Al-makura and I advised him to write to the Ministry of Water Resources to plead the federal government to take over the project which he did and I fought for it.
“We wrote to Federal Government, and President Muhammadu Buhari has given an accelerated approval to take over of the project from the state government.”
Dr. Musa explained that contract of about ten billion naira was awarded and the project is ongoing now. “As I speak to you that is my number one priority to make sure that project is completed.”
He used the medium to call on people of Nasarawa North Senatorial District irrespective of religion, ethnics and political differences to join hands with him to make a difference in the Senatorial District and the state in general.
On his chances of winning Nasarawa North Senatorial seat in the forthcoming election, Dr. Musa said they are many candidates contesting on other political parties, but, as the only candidate from, Wamba Local Government, he has an upper hands.
“Just like I have always said, Wamba has been marginalized for decades. There are only three Local Government Areas, in this senatorial zone, there is no reason why we cannot rotate the seat of the Senate among us.
“I repeat there was no reason, Nasarawa Eggon monopolised the seat for so long.
“Also, Akwanga has gotten their on share; it’s only Wamba that wasn’t given the opportunity to be in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since the return of democracy.
“Therefore I want to change that narrative this time around, Wamba must have a say. I will be all out to campaign to ensure I got the seat or let me say Wamba will get the seat in 2023.
He pointed out that he will embark on series of consultation with the other 2 Local Government Areas to sensitize them on the need for support on how to get a Wamba person as a Senator.
“Thanked God that finally I got a platform to use for the benefit of my people”
“I have said countless times, I’m not in this race because I want to do something for myself, but for my people. He said.
