Aviation Minister, Sirika woos stakeholders to invest in Nigeria’s airports
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment of ensuring the attainment of the Aviation Road map before the end of its administration.
The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika made this statement during the opening ceremony of the maiden edition of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) National Aviation Conference (FNAC) in Abuja, tagged “Advancing the Frontiers of Possibilities for Safe, secure and Profitable Air Transport.”
Sirika said: “We are determined to pursue the actualization of every component of the Aviation roadmap with your support, understanding and participation.
”The Minister said the Aviation Road Map was designed for the benefit of the private sector as every single airport will eventually be run and owned by the private sector for efficiency and cost of value for money.
He maintained that the aviation roadmap vision was also initiated by the present administration to address the immediate and remote cause of lack of desired growth and efficiency in the aviation sector.
The minister further revealed some key areas that has enjoyed some significant level of completion.
“It is worthy of note that some of the key elements such as the National Carrier, Airport Concessioning, MRO/ Aviation Leasing company has reached advance stages of implementation, and all will be concluded before the end of this administration.”
Sirika also persuaded aviation stake holders to invest in its Nation’s airport as he referred to the Aviation industry as a goldmine with lots of latent potentials waiting to be explored.
“In the country today, the rate of return on investment is 34%. Our four Airports has been designated and approved as free zones for all of you to come and invest, particularly in Abuja where we have twelve (12) hectares of land all available as free zone in the Federal Capital Territory.”
Sirika stated that Nigeria has received a significant boost with the rise in ranking of Ease of Doing Business which makes it 100% possible to own a company whether you are a Nigerian or foreigner.
The Minister assured the stakeholders that government doors are open and will provide a level playing field for competition and innovation as government is always willing and ready to discuss business and partner with innovators, investors to bring desired growth and development of the industry.
The Aviation boss said that the conference was designed to discuss, evaluate, analyze and synergize the advancement of Aviation in Nigerian.
