2023: Ganduje urges Imams to pray for Tinubu as he agrees to pick Muslim running mate
Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has urged Imams and Sheikhs and Islamic Clerics in Nigeria to pray for Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his success at the 2023 presidential polls.
The governor revealed on Saturday while over 100 Clerics paid a Sallah homage to him in Kano, saying that the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard flagbearer would pick a Muslim northerner as his running based on advice to him.
Ganduje said there were consultations in recent weeks with critical stakeholders, an discovered that a Muslim running mate would be a match for Tinubu, adding that Muslim-Muslim ticket was not new in Nigeria.
Ganduje was optimistic that with Muslim-Muslim ticket, APC’s presidential candidate will election, fair and square. CAPITAL POST recalled that the choice of Muslim-Muslim has been a contentious issue since Tinubu emerged candidate after a keenly contested primary election.
The concern was mainly coming from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the umbrella body of Christian faiths in Nigeria.
“We have advised him to pick a Muslim deputy and he has agreed. A Muslim-Muslim ticket is a reality. It is not something new in Nigeria”, Ganduje maintained.
Ganduje sought for prayers for his Deputy Governor, Yusuf Gawuna, who has emerged as the APC governorship candidate for the 2023 elections in Kano State, even he finishes his tenure in 2023.
