Former Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr Idris Omede has appealed for peace and security in Kogi State as Muslim faithful celebrates Eid-Kabir on Saturday.

Peace and Security, he said, were panacea for a smooth transition and viable democratic practice as Nigeria’s 2023 general election beckons.

In a statement which was sent to CAPITAL POST in Abuja on Friday, Dr. Omede stated that without peace and security, the cardinal goals and target of development, will remain elusive and takes long to achieve.

He further stated that for a country preparing for a general election, the security breaches, in various dimensions and shades are quite worrisome, noting that nations cannot thrive, when in perpetual fears of insecurity amidst many other precarious situations.

“As Nigeria earnestly prepares for a new leadership through legitimate transition processes and programs, all actors must be sincere, just, fair and patriotic and ensure sanctity of lives and properties.”

Dr Omede Idris, also a former President of Association of Professional Bodies in Nigeria APBN, used the festive season to congratulate the Muslim and muslim communities, urging them to live and lead by example, in accordance with the teachings and tenets of Prophet Mohammed, Peace Be Upon Him, that centres on peace.

Dr Omede who was also a former President of the Nigeria Medical Association, urged the people of Kogi state to imbibe the culture of sacrifice, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismael, in strict obedience to the Instruction of Allah through the Angel.

“That sacrifice and its eventual outcome, form the hallmark of Eid el Adha celebration and key component of Hajj rites and activities.

Dr Omede prayed for more years of celebration in good health, love and conviviality in Kogi state and Nigeria for a smooth a general election in 2023.
