45 year old, Kasali Hassan remanded in prison for having sex with male minor in Minna
A 45 year old man, Mr Kasali Hassan (alias Alfa), on Friday ordered to be remanded in Correctional custody for unnatural offence and unlawful sexual intercourse with a child.
He was remanded on the order of the chief Magistrate, Hajiya Fati Hassan Umar after the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two count charges preferred against him. by the police prosecutor Inspector Aliyu Yakubu Kuta.
The two count charges according to the prosecutor contravened section 284 of the penal code law and section 26 (2), of Niger State Child Right law 2021 as amended .
Kasali Hassan who lives in Limawa area of Minna, was alleged to have on the 26, June, 2022 at about 1 pm committed the offence with one Yusuf Aliyu.
He was reported at A’ divisional Police Command in Minna ” on the same date.
The charge read: “That you Kasali Hassan, 45 years old of age lured two children of 8 years of ages of the same address and had sexual intercourse with them one after the other through their anus”.
Police detective swung into action and arrested you Kasali Hassan (Alias Alfa),. and during police investigation it was revealed that you entice the children with N50 each and have sexual intercourse through their anus on several occasions since May. 2022.”
When the two count charges were read to the defendant, by the presiding Chief Magistrate, he pleaded not guilty.
At this point, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Aliyu Yakubu Kuta told the court that investigation into the case has just commenced and “in view of the serious two charges which are not bailable, “I request your worship to remand him in Correctional custody pending the completion of our investigation.”
While granting the request of the Prosecutor, Hajiya Fati Hassan, averred that the request of the prosecutor of remanding the defendant in Correctional custody has been granted.
“How e is to be kept in Correctional custody pending the completion of police investigation.
The cases of sexual intercourse with children of under age is at alarming rates in the State. The issue of even granting him bail in this nature of offence will not be allowed by this court.
Keeping him out of the street should be the appropriate punishment for him.
“If he had pleaded guilty to the charges, I would have convicted him summarily. So I hereby grant the application of the prosecutor and is to be kept in Correctional custody till August 2, 2022 for further mention.”
